Sherbourne Primary School is located in the beautiful, treed residential suburb of Briar Hill, located 24 km north of Melbourne CBD. Situated on 4 acres, our 180 students enjoy plenty of space to play and to learn. Our facilities include modern refurbished buildings, expansive outdoor deck areas, synthetic turf oval and hard courts, a hall, indoor heated swimming pool, library and dedicated Japanese and Art and Before and After School Care rooms. The school also has much-loved chickens and vegetable gardens.
Sherbourne PS delivers a comprehensive Victorian curriculum through high quality programs across the school. Specialist programs include The Arts, Japanese language and PE/Sport. We work hard as a community to build a positive, inclusive culture which values effort and pride.
Other programs and extra curricula activities include Tournament of Minds, Thinking Carnival, Writers Festival, school choir and private instrumental music lessons. Whole school activities include Carols on the Oval, sports carnivals, visiting theatre, Japanese Cultural Day, the Billy Cart Grand Prix and Footy Day.
Our shared values are the basis for all we do at Sherbourne. We actively encourage all students to become effective and responsible citizens who take ownership of their own learning, to work co-operatively in teams and to participate actively in the life of the school.
Student voice is strongly valued at Sherbourne. Student leadership and voice is enabled through Junior School council, which includes P-6 class representatives, class meetings and elected Year 6 student leaders including School. House, Environment and ICT captains. Every person in our school is expected to share the responsibility for making our school the best it can be.
Sherbourne’s Buddy program capitalizes on our smaller size and strong sense of community. Every child at Sherbourne is matched with a cross age buddy in a buddy class. Our teachers know our students and our families and take true collective responsibility, interest and care. Students get to know, work, learn and play with students across the school as well as in their own class.
Sherbourne PS is a welcoming community where families can connect with others and participate in an active partnership in their child’s education. We work together to best prepare our students as responsible, articulate, caring community members. We welcome you to become part of our learning community!
