Student Voice

Student Voice and Leadership

Students at Sherbourne Primary contribute to school decisions through our Student Representative Council, Grade 6 Leadership Program, and other forums such as year-level meetings and peer support groups. Students are encouraged to speak with teachers, Year Level Coordinators, the Wellbeing Team, Assistant Principal, or Principal whenever they have questions or concerns.

Our Student Leadership Program allows students from all year levels to develop leadership skills, speak at whole-school assemblies, and assist in organising and running community events.

Multi-Tiered Approaches to Wellbeing and Engagement

Alongside these programs, Sherbourne Primary implements a range of evidence-based approaches to support student wellbeing:

  • Zones of Regulation – helping students understand and manage their emotions
  • Class Circle Time – building communication and problem-solving skills
  • Lunch Clubs – including Art Club, Lego Club, and other interest-based activities
  • Social Skills Groups – targeted support for interpersonal development
  • Foundation/Grade 6 Buddy Program – fostering connection across year levels
  • Foundation Yoga Program – promoting mindfulness and self-regulation
  • Smiling Minds / Meditation / Relaxation Sessions – supporting emotional wellbeing

At Sherbourne Primary School, we focus on the whole child — academically, socially, emotionally, culturally, and physically — to ensure every student thrives in a supportive and respectful learning environment.
